On Wednesday I spoke in the 3rd reading of the landmark Tobacco and Vapes Bill, which will create the first smoke-free generation, and puts more restrictions on vaping, aiming to limit their appeal to children and young people.
But I spoke to my own amendment to the bill – which sought to further strengthen regulation and stop rogue manufactures trying to circumvent the law, making monster sized vapes, over and above the legal limit. The Minister rejected my amendment, but confirmed it will be legislated for in secondary legislation
Why is this important to me? Well I gave up smoking last year, and I know first hand how dangerous and addictive all these products are, and we need to reduce their appeal to children and young people.
