President Trump's Trade Tariffs

Last night’s news about President Trump's trade tariffs will have a significant impact on global trading markets—potentially changing the global trade consensus thats been in place since WW2.

Our country and our constituency benefits from tariff free trade - and I'm pleased that the clear and level headed negotiations mean we have the lowest tariff, which is good news for our economy.

We need to make sure we keep this level headed approach - and not react unduly to a quickly changing global picture and zig-zagging policy announcements from the USA.

I made the point to the Secretary of State for trade, Jonathan Reynolds that we must continue to put our country's interests first to protect British jobs, trade, industry, and consumers.
