I recently chaired a roundtable meeting with Guy Singh-Watson, founder of Riverford Organic, focused on tackling farmwashing - where big supermarkets mislead customers into thinking their food is as ethical and sustainable as that from small farms.

I welcome the recent news that the Department for Business and Trade is now reviewing the Groceries Code Adjudicator (GCA) – it needs to have real power to hold major supermarkets to account, protecting British farms, creating a fairer supply chain, and ensuring we have honest packaging. At the moment, supermarkets are getting away with far too much, and farmers and producers are missing out on a fair deal.
