Last week, I joined my friend and colleague Polly Billington in writing to National Grid to raise serious concerns about the proposed Sea Link project - calling out the lack of transparency, poor coordination, and failure to properly engage with local communities in both Suffolk and Kent.
Here in Suffolk Coastal, I’ve been clear that insufficient consideration has been given to alternative sites, such as the brownfield location at Bradwell, or other options closer to areas of electricity demand.
I’ve also registered as an Interested Party and have submitted a detailed representation to the Planning Inspectorate, setting out the concerns I have, and concerns that have been raised to me by local residents, landowners and local groups. You can read it here: https://national-infrastructure-consenting.planninginspectorate.gov.uk/projects/EN020026/representations/100005375
You can still sign up as an Interested Party until Monday 18th August by visiting: https://national-infrastructure-consenting.planninginspectorate.gov.uk/projects/EN020026/register/register-have-your-say
