Today at 3pm, there will be a test of the UK Emergency Alerts system.

If you have a 4G or 5G mobile phone, you’ll hear a loud siren and your phone will vibrate for about 10 seconds. It’s just a test - you don’t need to do anything.

The system is designed to warn people about dangers to life, like severe weather. If you’re driving, please don’t look at your phone until it’s safe.

For anyone who keeps a hidden phone for safety reasons, you may want to switch it off or adjust settings ahead of the test.
