Fixing Coronation Drive's damaged verges
The condition of the verges on Coronation Drive has gone from bad to worse — and Suffolk County Council has failed to act.

With limited space on the road, vehicles are routinely forced onto the verges so that buses and emergency services can pass.
The result is exactly what residents have been warning about for years: verges churned into mud, uneven ground, and an area that is now increasingly unsafe.
This situation was entirely predictable — and entirely avoidable.

Time for action
Residents and councillors have raised this issue time and again, yet no long-term solution has been delivered.
Instead, the situation has been allowed to deteriorate, leaving people to deal with the consequences every day.
This is not a new or unexpected problem. It is well understood, entirely predictable, and falls squarely within the responsibility of Suffolk County Council.

What’s needed now is a clear commitment to a permanent solution, such as reinforced verges, permeable parking grids or other durable measures that prevent further damage
